OpenStack Cloud Product and Solutions Marketing Manager

The global OpenStack Cloud product and solutions marketing manager is responsible for developing and then telling the story to both internal and external audiences about our OpenStack Cloud product and solutions with the ultimate goal of driving awareness and demand. They are responsible for creating the product and solutions marketing strategy, messaging and plan, coordinating a variety of marketing execution resources (e.g. content, offers) and helping to ensure that inside/direct/indirect sales resources have the knowledge and tools required to convert leads into opportunities and closed business. 

Location: Flexible - Any City, US or EMEA


  • Define market opportunity for their product and solution areas. This position will be focused on our OpenStack and cloud product offerings (SUSE OpenStack Cloud product and Cloud solutions) This includes:
    • the targeting/segmentation of opportunities and markets
    • collaboration with product management and business development to analyze new markets
  • Architect product/solution plans and define positioning and messaging
  • Identify a product/solution`s core demand type (e.g. new concept, new paradigm, established market), map out the buying process for the product/solution and develop buyer personas for the identified roles
  • Develop launch plans for focus solutions/products
  • Build standard collateral and relevant content for different (buyer) roles, including web pages, flyers, brochures, white papers, social media content, online event material and more
  • Serve as interface between product and development departments and the companies broader marketing and sales organization and our enterprise customers, interact with customers to collect requirements, and work on joint activities such as reference stories and videos
  • Prepare competitive comparison information for use in positioning against offerings from other organizations
  • Collaborate with product management and sales enablement teams on sales enablement plan, assist in the creation of enablement content for direct and indirect sales resources (e.g. playbooks, battle cards, scripts, presentations, training modules, demos)
  • Support other marketing functions (Alliance, Channel) to map products, solutions and services offerings from external partners into key solution categories
  • Collaborate with Campaign marketing to develop strategies for creating pipeline for new offerings as well as upsell, cross-sell and account-based marketing programs to grow existing relationships
  • Contribute to the development of a social media plan to support both the product/solution release and positioning
  • Key event support. The OpenStack Summits are a key focus for this role.
  • Open source community engagement - interaction with the OpenStack Foundation is key for this role
  • Briefing and building relationships with key members of the media an analyst communities

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of customers’ business needs
  • Self-motivated and self-managed
  • Team player - ability to work both within the product marketing team and across other teams
  • Excellent work ethic, strong organizational skills & ability to meet deadlines
  • Willing to travel occasionally on business throughout the EMEA and the US
  • Language skills: English fluently, additional languages (e.g. German) appreciated
  • Very good verbal, written, and presentation skills, including public speaking skills
  • Experience in working with inter-departmental stakeholders to create and implement a project
  • Ability to break down barriers between product areas and functions
  • Experience with open source software a plus
  • Understanding of the OpenStack, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry and Docker open source projects a plus.
