QA Automation Engineer (North America)

Location: Seattle, WA or Provo, UT

At SUSE we're building the next-generation container orchestration platform based on Kubernetes, and are looking for QA Automation Engineer to join us as part of the SUSE Container Service Platform team.

As we develop our SUSE Container-as-as-Service (CaaS) Platform based on Kubernetes, we are looking for a QA Automation Engineer who will be able to push its limits, making sure it performs to customer expectations and conforms to the highest quality standards. You will author test automation for highly available, micro-service-based distributed systems utilizing some of the latest cutting-edge container technologies. As part of the Containers Team at SUSE, you will work with open-source technologies like Kubernetes, SaltStack and the Docker open source project to achieve these goals.

We're looking for someone who loves testing and breaking systems, enjoys working with automation, and is passionate about technology. You should have an analytical mind and experience with programming and scripting languages to write test cases, and to design and develop automation tools. Where others would see just issues and bugs in isolation, you would instead identify patterns and propose new ways to test and automate components, effectively bolstering the quality of the entire product.

We're strongly committed to open source and contribute to numerous free and open projects and initiatives. We embrace and believe in the open source innovation model and the open source business model. As a member of the SUSE Container Service Platform team you will have the opportunity to contribute to Kubernetes, Helm, Moby and various other open source projects. You will work together with the communities for these projects and strive to continuously advance the state of the art in QA and automation.

Curiosity and good teamwork are two of the values that drive us as a team. If you are passionate about these values too, you are likely a great fit for us. As a team, we're constantly finding ways to improve ourselves. We pride ourselves on our communication and teamwork -- we're all in this together!

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) and 2-3 years related work experience
  • Ability to write automated release tests in a high-level language (like Python, or Ruby)
  • Ability to work with the Pre-sales team to build Proof-of-Concept (POC) environments for customers
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues on test platforms, and assist support on customer related issues

Why work with us:

  • We’re passionate about Containers and Cloud technologies like Kubernetes and OpenStack
  • We are committed to Open Source, and strongly encourage contributions to Open Source projects
  • We engender the values of openness, courage, commitment and respect
  • We have opportunities to travel to work-related conferences, around the globe.
  • We are flexible on working hours
